How to use the LLDV trick (step by step)

Enabling Dolby Vision on a projector or non-DV display with the Dr HDMI 4K takes about ten minutes:

1. Connect the Dr HDMI 4K between your source (Apple TV 4K, Nvidia Shield, Blu-ray player) and your display or projector.
2. Get an LLDV-capable EDID file — ready-made EDID files are shared in the AVS Forum LLDV thread, or copy the EDID from any Dolby Vision TV using the copy-sink button.
3. Upload the EDID to one of the 7 custom banks with the free Dr HDMI 4K app on your computer, connected via the included USB cable.
4. Select that custom bank with the rotary dial (white LED side). The hot-plug event makes your source re-read the EDID within ~2 seconds.
5. Enable Dolby Vision on your source. It now detects a DV-capable display and outputs LLDV — with the source doing the tone-mapping, your projector displays the result.
